Why is web to app attribution needed?
There are certain instances where app owners want to run web campaigns to bring users to their website first, and prompt them to download the app from their website.
- Some apps are not allowed to run traditional app install campaigns on Google / Apple store
- Apps such as betting apps, real money gaming apps, sexual wellness apps, etc.
- Some apps want to educate customers about their product, and want the users to land on their website first and then install the app.
For such occasions, app owners would like to:
- Know the web campaign from which the user came to the landing page and installed the app
Use case
- Mobile user sees an Ad on Facebook or Google (search) or 3rd party network
- User clicks on the ad and is redirected to the landing page
- User clicks on the download app button on the landing page
- User is redirected to the respective store, and installs the app
- Adjust should be able to attribute the app install to the web campaign that brought the user to the landing page
